Willow Creek enjoyed a week at the Hoover Y Park, Columbus, Ohio Bluegrass Music Event. Top bluegrass bands, such as; Rhonda Vincent and the Rage; Russell Moore and III Tyme Out; Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver; James King; to mention a few donated their talents to benefit the St. Jude Hospital.
Despite the heat and humidity, it was a great time to enjoy the friendship of the band, and spend some time just jamming throughout the campground.
Great time, if you missed it, make plans to attend next year.

Willow Creek performed at the Der Dutchman Restaurant and Carlisle Gifts, Waynesville, Ohio on Saturday, July 10, 2010. It was absolutely a beautiful day to enjoy the sounds of bluegrass music, and watch the excitement on children’s faces as clowns entertained with balloons and the chicken dance.
One of the sweetest highlights of the day was the Apple Pie Baking Contest, in which, Willow Creek, of course had the opportunity to sample the goods. Very tasty! Also available to the many visitors was sweet watermelon and the best was the fresh corn roasted on the “Big Green Egg” grill.
But of course, if you didn’t get to attend the event, you definitely missed a good time. We hope you catch us at our next show.

Willow Creek celebrated the 4th of July in concert at the City Folk Festival, Room With A View, at the Dayton Metro Park. Dailey and Vincent were also in concert Sunday. The Room with a View was stage side which gave us the opportunity to talk with Darrin and Jamie before they went on stage. I also got to speak with Jeff Parker, who also plays mandolin before he went out to entertain the crowd. Willow Creek had a guest musician with us Sunday, Amos Hopkins, from Louisville, KY, who played a mean fiddle. The highlight of the day was when Darrin Vincent, wore, Nick’s “funky hair hat” on stage. It was definitely a day to remember. Willow Creek made a lot of new friends and visited with our devoted fans we met last year while playing the Room With A View.

Willow Creek performed at two festivals on Saturday, June 26, 2010. We began the day at the Appalachian Mountain Music Festival, in Waynesville, Ohio. The festival had quite a few in attendance. The weather was very hot, but a beautiful breeze was blowing through the stage area. We closed this show with our new song, “Hot Corn, Cold Corn”. The band has a lot of fun with this song.
Later in the afternoon, we performed at the Olde Tyme Music Festival which was held at the Pioneer Village in Harveysburg, Ohio. Willow Creek performed at the Gazebo for a large audience. Many new fans of Willow Creek were discovered. In particular, we met a gentlemen at Renfro Valley, Ky. He traveled to the festival to catch our show. In talking with him, we learned that he recently lost his wife, so the band wanted to dedicate our new song to him, “Mamma’s Teaching Angels to Sing” in memory of his beloved wife, Leah.
Both festivals were great!
